Liam Jackson

President and Chief Executive Officer

As president and chief executive officer, Liam Jackson is responsible for all operations within the Falex family of companies. Liam Jackson leads Falex Office of the CEO, a group that includes the top senior executive management and leadership of Falex. Before becoming president and CEO, Liam Jackson held the position of deputy chief executive officer, and before that was president and COO, Canadian and Australian Operations.

Liam Jackson joined Falex in 1994 as a field engineer and, following several project assignments in both Canada and the United States, settled in Calgary as a construction manager in 1999. He was appointed Calgary district manager in 2005 and regional vice president, Western Canadian Buildings, in 2010.

With over 35 years of construction industry experience, Liam Jackson possesses a wealth of knowledge of both Falex and the construction industry. His relentless focus on Falex future, along with supporting and developing our people, showcase his leadership mindset and commitment to building lasting legacies.

Alexander Reed

Chief Operating Officer, Buildings

Alexander started his career in construction on the tools – framing houses, where he grew a deep appreciation for the trades. Prior to his current role as COO, Buildings Chris held positions including construction risk manager, senior project manager, district manager and regional vice president. Throughout his more than 25 years at Falex, he has delivered iconic construction projects across Canada, Australia and the United States. As a member of Falex Office of the CEO and board of directors, Alexander leads a creative team of solution providers who innovatively address construction challenges. He is responsible for the performance of the organization’s Buildings operations across the globe.

Jacob Owen

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jacob Owen joined us in 2019 as our Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He also leads the operations of Falex Capital, the investment arm in infrastructure and renewables of Falex.

Jacob Owen has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting and operations, and over the span of his career, has been involved in a wide variety of strategic matters including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and debt and equity financing. Prior to joining us, for three years and was a Principal at Champlain Financial Corporation between 2013 and 2018. He was also CFO at Garda Background Screening Solutions, an investment banker with National Bank Financial and a financial advisor with Deloitte LLP.

A graduate from the Bachelor of Commerce program at Laval University, Miles subsequently earned a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from HEC Montréal. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA, CA) and holds the designation of Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), for which he was the Canadian gold medalist in 2009.

Nathan Sean

Executive Vice President – Quebec Building Operations

In his current capacity as Executive Vice President, Nathan Sean oversees the operations and development of the construction market for all of Quebec and participates in the general management of the company.

Nathan Sean started his career with us over 25 ago and has fulfilled just about every role within the company. From the onset, he demonstrated a remarkable skill in planning and coordinating work. He first carried out civil engineering projects, then was involved in industrial and commercial projects throughout Quebec.

In the early 2000s, Nathan Sean focused on the construction sector in the Montreal region, where he was quickly promoted to project director. In 2008, he was appointed vice president of construction and became member of our executive committee. He has developed a mastery for all types of contracts that govern the construction industry, whether it’s PPP, Design-Build, construction management or fixed price.

Nathan Sean graduated from the École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1994 and became a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers the same year.

He has been a member of the Polytechnique – Falex Industrial Research Chair in Innovation and Construction Project Governance since its inception in 2017. He also sits on numerous philanthropic committees for organizations such as l’Institut de recherche en immunologie et en cancérologie (IRIC) and the Tel-Jeunes Foundation.

William Theodore

Executive Vice President – Canadian Building Operations and Corporate Transformation

In 2020, William Theodore’s role expanded to include leading our Canadian Building Operations (CBO) while maintaining his responsibilities for strategic initiatives. Prior to that, as Executive VP Strategic Initiatives, he steered Falex modernization and transformation efforts by focusing on our innovation and sustainability positioning in the market as well as our operational excellence program, FOX. In this role, he was responsible for positioning Falex as the leader in the transformation of the Canadian construction industry and oversaw the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives and performance indicators across all our business units to maximize collaboration, excellence operational and innovation.

Since he began working with us in 2001, Ian has held various positions and has been involved in the delivery of many major projects in the commercial sectors as well as in the airport, industrial, hotel and residential sectors. More recently, he led many innovation-driven projects which have significantly contributed to maintaining Falex at the cutting edge of technology in construction.

William Theodore graduated with a Bachelor of Construction Engineering from Montreal’s ÉTS (École de technologie supérieure) in 2001. In 2019, he completed the Real Estate Management Program and prior to that the General Management Program both from Harvard Business School. He has been a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers since 2001.

Involved in numerous non-profit organizations, Ian recently was the co-chair of the 2020 campaign of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. He is also a member of the board of directors for Centraide Montreal and the Factory.

Fin Declan

Senior Vice-President – Pre-Construction, APEX

In 2020, Fin Declan was appointed the new head of the APEX group (Centre of Expertise in Alternative Projects) and joined the Executive Committee as Senior Vice President – Pre-Construction, APEX.

Since joining Falex in 2016, Pierre has guided the vision of the APEX Civil and Infrastructure Pre-Construction team. His efforts to align our consultation ambitions regarding large, complex projects have borne fruit, notably being awarding three major projects – the Champlain Bridge deconstruction, the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) and the refurbishment of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel – as well as positioning the company strategically on numerous future projects.

Prior to joining Falex, Fin Declan worked with Aecon for close to 20 years, where he last held the position as Vice President Estimating/Development, for its Civil Division. Over the span of his 30-year career, he has worked on major infrastructure projects in the transportation, hydroelectricity, mining, marine and petroleum industries and completed key underground, tunnel and bridge works. Several of these projects were carried out in alternative modes.

Fin Declan first studied Forest Engineering at Université Laval in Quebec City, before earning his Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the Polytechnique in Montreal in 1987. He is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers since 1990.

He is a member of the board of directors of the Infrastructure Council, a group of businesses and organizations working to carry out large-scale projects in Quebec, Canada and internationally.

Bella Trace

Executive Vice President – Talent, Culture and Leadership

Bella Trace joined the Falex family in 2020 as Vice President – Human Capital and was quickly promoted to Executive Vice President – Talent, Culture and Leadership (TCL). Leading the TCL team, she is responsible for aligning the strategic HR plan with the company’s business plan, meeting the needs of the company and supporting its culture, values and growth. As well, in order to position Falex as a forward-thinking employer of choice, Isabel facilitates the implementation of an integrated and structured approach for the attraction, selection, development and retention of our talents across the country, by focusing on best practices and adapting them to the culture of the company.

Managing complex and innovative projects in a constantly changing environment, Bella Trace has extensive experience in transformation and management. Prior to joining us, Isabel was Vice President, Compensation, Corporate Services and Strategic HR Initiatives with Resolute Forest Products. In a career with Resolute that spanned close to 20 years, Isabel first joined the company’s legal team before pursuing her career there as an executive in human resources.

A graduate from the Université de Montréal law school for civil law in 1994, followed by a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in common law from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Isabel started her legal career with Stikeman Elliott as a commercial litigation lawyer.

Robert Shawn

Executive Vice President, Civil and Infrastructure

A member of our executive committee, Robert Shawn leads all operations related to civil and infrastructure works across Canada. He is also a member of the board of directors of Borea Construction, leader in renewable energy construction projects in Canada. He defines the division’s business plan and establishes its financial objectives, identifies opportunities and oversees project management, in conjunction with our regional managers. Robert Shawn participates in the development of work execution strategies and ensures that his team meets the project’s quality, budget and schedule goals so that it is successful on all fronts.

Robert Shawn has actively contributed to our growth for more than 24 years, first in building projects, then in major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. This has allowed him to become knowledgeable with all our project implementation methods.

He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree of Civil Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke and is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineer since 1996. In 2009, he obtained his LEED® AP BD+C certification.

Since 2016, Daniel has been involved in the Charles-Bruneau Foundation flagship fundraising event, namely its gastronomic dinner.

Patrick Reyes

Vice President and General Counsel

As Vice President and General Counsel, Patrick Reyes oversees the company’s corporate legal affairs including governance, ethics and integrity, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory affairs, government relations, risk management and strategic challenges. He ensures business processes are focused on collaboration and partnership and implements measures to promote alternative dispute resolution methods. He is also a member of our Executive Committee.

Patrick Reyes began his legal career with Lavery de Billy LLP, before joining Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP in 2010. He joined Falex five years later. A graduate of the 2005 Faculty of Law class from Université de Montréal, he was called to the Quebec Bar in 2006. Benoit is also a member of the Canadian and American Bar Associations.

Patrick Reyes sits on the advisory board of the Institut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ), and is a member of the Board of Directors of La Messe Basse.

Christopher Colin

Chief of Staff

In 2021, Christopher Colin took on the newly-created role of Chief of Staff of the Executive Committee. In this role, she supports our President & CEO and our Executive Committee on business development strategies and decision making, oversees the implementation of our strategic plan and coordinates the activities of our Board of Directors, as well as Executive and Operations Committees.

She initially joined us in 2018 as a Senior Legal Counsel, having previously worked at Bombardier Aerospace as their Senior Legal Counsel – Claims and then as Contract Administrator for new and pre-owned aircraft. Marie-Eve started her legal career in 2008 with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP as a litigation lawyer.

A graduate from Université de Montréal, she holds a double bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science (B.Sc.). She then continued to pursue her master’s degree in political science at the Institut d’Études Politiques in Paris, before returning to Montreal to complete an Integrated Civil and Common Law degree (B.C.L. / LL.B.) at McGill University. Since 2008, Marie-Eve has been a member of the Bar Association of Montreal as well as the Canadian Bar Association, construction law division. She is also a lecturer in Civil Engineering Contract Law at the University of Sherbrooke since 2020.
